There are many ways to become and stay healthy, and one way is to have support! Live an active lifestyle with a friend or loved one, this is a great place to start. Going alone in the journey of health and fitness can be hard, which is why we want to outline a few tricks on how to live a healthier and more active lifestyle with your friends and family.

  1. Watch TV in nature. That doesn’t mean to put the TV outside, even though it can make for a pretty awesome night. It means to live life outside of the house, to make your own reality or nature show. Instead of watching three hours of TV every night, watch only one and the rest go outside for a walk, a run, or a bike ride. Bring along your friends and family and chat about each other’s day. Watch the sunset as you run outside and bring along your crush, who knows what might happen! The point is to actually go outside and be active instead of slouching in front of the TV with a bag of chips. If I put an urge in you to eat chips now, stop and go outside. Bond with your friends and family, you’ll be surprised at what you can find out by exhausting someone. They will literally spill everything because they’re thinking of the sweat dripping down their face instead of hiding the truth. Win-Win.
  2. Turn your house into a restaurant… figuratively speaking of course. Have a day where all your family cooks together. The kids can prepare their healthy desserts while the parents prepare the meals.
  3. Start a friendly competition. Whether it’s with friends or family, have a competition every week. Let’s say on Sunday you meet up with your friends and mutually decide that by next Sunday the person who runs the slowest 5K buys lunch for everybody. Mark our word that each one of you will train all week to run the fastest, or at least not the slowest. You can even do it with family; the person who runs the slowest 5K gets to clean the house, the bathroom, or prepare lunch for everybody. We all have competition in our blood, whether we want to admit it or not, therefore this will insure that everybody stays active and motivates each other!

Make sure you keep it fun by changing up the routine. Bring something new to the table that everybody can look forward to. Whether it’s a new menu or a new competition, it has to motivate everyone to be active and stay healthy. After a while it’ll become a routine and you won’t even need to remind them as they will bring it up themselves.
