“CHANGE” is a powerful thing, yet most people don’t like it. “Making Positive Changes” is an interesting phrase because most people will read the bullet points to learn about making positive changes in their life and never follow through with it. 

As a personal trainer, the people around me share their personal goals and struggles. I realize everyone wants and wishes for some sort of change to happen in their life, but a small percent of people actually make it happen. What makes one person successful at making positive changes and another person unsuccessful? 

Come up with one thing that will make an overall positive impact on your life. This one thing must be something you have complete control over. Make sure that without a doubt, you do that one thing on a daily basis. This is the start of making positive changes in your life. 

Once you have that one thing down and you do it religiously for a month, pick one more thing and make sure you incorporate it into your life in a way that no matter what, nothing gets in the way of you accomplishing this action.

Before you know it, your life has changed…for the better. These positive changes will make a huge impact on other areas of your life.

Here are some ideas. Choose the action item that is best for you. What works for one person will not be the best action item for another person. Think deeply into what will make a difference in your life if you did this one thing without fail on a regular basis.

Ideas For Making Positive Changes

  • Quit Soda
  • Quit Smoking
  • Sleep 8 hours a night
  • Go to bed by 9:30 every night 
  • Go for at least a 10 minute walk every day
  • Perform Body Weight Exercises 2 times a week (Push-ups, Planks, Squats, and Pull-ups)
  • Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning

These are some examples, however, you can come up with your own. Making positive changes is not easy, but once you have been doing something regularly for a month, it will be easy and hopefully have a profound impact on the rest of your life! Life is short, start making positive changes in your life now! Be happy!
